Wear's the Baby

My first love is the Moby Wrap and then I met the BabyHawk! In my honest opinion, both carriers are a must for wearing your baby. I love both of them for different reasons (that I will go into at a different time).

Even my niece and nephew like to be like their Titi Kara!

Snow Day!

I LOVE snow days!  That means I don't have to go spend time getting dressed, packing snacks, getting the boys ready, dressing Lylah and WAKING her up when I take her brothers to school.  Instead, we will spend our days in our PJ's and relax clean.  Well, the boys will be playing something fun like Lego Batman for the Wii (which is a wonderful game...it teaches teamwork).  Lylah will enjoy not being disturbed for her morning nap.

We actually didn't get that much snow, but I'll take a snow day any day!

When we told Elias he had no school today, his response was "YAY, I don't have to wash my hands!"  HAHA!  My poor kids have a mother that makes them wash their hands after going potty, blowing noses AND coming home from school.  They always complain when they get home because they don't want to wash their hands.  Sorry, I don't want those germs touching my baby girl!

Our bird squirrel feeder was full!  We need to fill it again because I am sure the birds squirrels are hungry.  We love our squirrels though ;)

Have a happy SNOW DAY!!

Welcome!

I can't wait to start my new blogging adventure!  I am excited to offer my two cents on products, parenting, living and so on.  I am very passionate about many things and I hope that my research and trial/error helps someone out there.

The way I parent now is not the way I started parenting with my first baby.  I was 21 when I had him.  I did not research and just did what my OB and his Ped told us to.  A lot has changed in our smiling household since our first baby was born.  I have always been an attached parent in a lot of respects but never classified myself in that group.  I just parent the way that works best for me and my family.  I don't judge if a mother wants to parent in a different way than the way I do.  If it works for them, then I am all for it.

Introductions:

Smile Momma (Kara) - I am open-minded, believer of Jesus, kind hearted, honest, welcoming and passionate friend.   I was married at age 20 (after just 6 months of dating and 6 months of engagement) to a wonderful man that changed my life.  He is amazing and I am so glad God led him to me.  We had our first baby when I was 21 (9 months after our wedding), our second baby when I was 23 and our third baby while I was 26.  In between our second and third babies, I started studying to becoming a doula.  While I was pregnant with our third, I was able to be apart of the intimate experience of labors and births. I fell in LOVE with being a doula.  It is my passion!  I have helped 7 couples receive the labor and birth experience they have wanted, along with sharing the incredible miracles of 7 beautiful babies being born (in just over a year).  I also work part time (2 days a week) and the rest of the time, I am a SAHM (stay at home momma).  You will have to forgive me on my grammar...I try, but I am no expert.

Kris- Oh, he is just the best man in the world...don't all happily married women say that about their man?  But, I am serious....he really is the best!  He works hard for us, loves his family and is sexy.  What more could a woman ask for?  After 7 years of marriage (January 4th), I am still madly in love with him.  I fall deeper and deeper for him everyday.  He is more than I ever asked God for.  He is my man :)

Elias- our first born at a whopping 9lbs 11oz.  He is my sleeps in late, tender hearted, craver of one-on-one time, fast to anger, needer of an outlet, late night eater, snuggle bug, good at everything he tries, stellar student, blonde-haired, brown-eyed, 6 year old little big boy.   He is also the apple of his sister's eye!

Isaac- our second son born 21 months after his big brother.  He is my HARD headed, determined, quick to cry, lover of eggies, craver of family time, stubborn, fearless, lover of laughing, eye for an eye, asthmatic, itchy skinned, "tan", clone of his father, lover of his Momma, brown-haired, dark brown-eyed, 4 1/2 year old little big boy.

Lylah- our long awaited daughter!  She is my beautiful, breast fed, organic fed, lover of being worn, cloth diapered, co-sleeper, keeper of all of our hearts, smiling, happy, 11 month old baby girl.
